About Me!

No matter how many other people's websites  I look at, I always find it very difficult to think what to put on my own About Me page - so here goes!

I've always had an interest in photography, which comes from my dad, who always seemed to have a camera near him. His sister,  my auntie was also a really keen photographer and she and my uncle had their own dark room, so I was pretty much surrounded by it when I was growing up.

My dad always shot with Canon, so he was surprised as I was, when my very first digital camera was a point and shoot Nikon.  I bought that in case I didn't take to it!

By 2008 I headed down my own Canon route and bought my first DSLR - a Canon 350D, with kit lens.  I loved it but tussled with what was what and realised I didn't really get this aperture, ISO and the like, so I was welded to the good old Green Auto square!  Not long after I'd  bought the 350D I saw the write up for a course which said something to the effect of - 'stuck on Auto? Want to get off that and take control of your camera?  Yes -I did and so I booked a place and that began my long association with Going Digital!

After the first course things were really put into perspective for me and I felt like I actually knew what my camera was getting up to and from then, it really was a case of onwards and upwards - not at great speed, but steady and deliberate.

I swapped my 350D for a 50D and then a 7D Mk 2 - I was a Canon user and was able to also buy L series lenses  although I did have a general go to, travel light lens, which was a  Sigma 18-250 - I loved that lens!

The years went by.  The weight of my kit increased and in March 2021, I went mirrorless.  Not only mirrorless, but Canon-less as I opted for a full kit change to Olympus and so far it's been fantastic!

I'm really very pleased and just a little bit proud of how my photography has developed, now that I have achieved  some photography distinctions.

That's it!
